Guiding Policy for Sponsorships:
Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity (KHfH) seeks to form special partnerships with individuals and businesses that help fulfill KHfH’s mission on Kaua‘i. These partnerships are voluntary, non-binding, and based upon the spirit of philanthropy. KHfH seeks to balance recognition with different levels of contributions and available staff resources.

Full House Sponsorship – $70,000
Donation of $70,000 covers the costs of most building materials for a single house
Optional: Sponsor Team volunteers 700 hours to help complete building house.
Optional: Forms a partnership with Habitat partner family.
Recognition includes:
On Work Site: Billboard w/sponsor name
Print: Listing in annual list of donors and house blessing programs; press release; and photo sent to newspaper
Online: WebBlog, Twitter, FaceBook posts; featured donor on KHfH website
Event: Groundbreaking, House Blessing, 5 build days
Habitat Logo: Use of KHfH sponsor logo for calendar year
Other: Photo album and CD; and at discretion of KHfH
If Sponsor desires to participate in volunteer work days, KHfH will help organize up to 5 Build days for Sponsor’s volunteers (average 20 volunteers x 7 hours x 5 days = 700 hours), giving them preferential scheduling and team-building accessories.
Sponsor may pledge $70,000 to be paid over a one-year period.
House Co-Sponsor – $35,000
Donation of $35,000 covers the costs of half of most building materials.
Optional: Sponsor Team volunteers 350 hours to help complete building house.
Optional: Forms a partnership with Habitat partner family.
Recognition includes:
On worksite: Sign or banner w/ sponsor name
Print: Listing in annual list of donors and house blessing programs; press release; and photo sent to newspaper
Online: WebBlog, Twitter, FaceBook posts; featured donor on KHfH website
Event: Groundbreaking, House Blessing, 2 build days
Habitat logo: Use of KHfH sponsor logo for calendar year
Other: At discretion of KHfH
If Sponsor desires to participate in volunteer work days, KHfH will help organize up to 2 build days for Sponsor’s volunteers (average 25 volunteers x 7 hours x 2 days = 350 hours).
Sponsor may pledge $35,000 to be paid over a six month period.
A Habitat house may have 2 Co-Sponsors. In that case, signage and organizing sponsor build days may be coordinated together.
Supporting Sponsor – $15,000
Donation of $15,000 covers the costs of miscellaneous building materials; may be focused on a particular part of house, i.e. roof or plumbing and electrical.
Optional: Sponsor Team volunteers 100 hours to help complete building house.
Recognition includes:
On worksite: Sign or banner alongside other sponsors
Print: Listing in annual list of donors and house blessing programs; press release; and photo sent to newspaper
Online: Website list of donors, Twitter, FaceBook posts;
Event: House Blessing, 1 build day
Habitat Logo: Use of KHfH sponsor logo for calendar year
Other: at discretion of KHfH
If Sponsor desires to participate in volunteer work days, KHfH will help organize up to 1 build day for Sponsor’s volunteers (average 20 volunteers x 5 hours x 1 days = 100 hours).
Sponsor may pledge $15,000 to be paid over a 3 month period.
A Habitat house may have several Supporting Sponsors. In that case, supporting sponsor build days will be coordinated together.
Repair and Renovation Sponsor – $7,500
This is a sponsorship of one house that is undergoing repair or renovation, not new construction. Donation of $7,500 covers the costs of miscellaneous building materials; may be focused on a particular part of house, i.e. roof
Optional: Sponsor Team volunteers 50 hours to help complete building house.
Recognition includes:
On worksite: Sign or banner for duration of repair (brief period)
Print: Listing in annual list of donors and house blessing programs; press release; and photo sent to newspaper
Online: Website list of donors, Twitter, FaceBook posts;
Event: 1 build day if desired
Habitat Logo: Use of KHfH sponsor logo for calendar year
Other: At discretion of KHfH
If Sponsor desires to participate in volunteer work days, KHfH will help organize up to 1 build day for Sponsor’s volunteers (average 10 volunteers x 5 hours x 1 days = 50 hours).
Sponsor may pledge $7,500 must be paid in full before materials ordered.
House Partner – In-Kind Donations
Monetary Donation: No cash donation; donations are in labor and materials.
Materials: Partner makes significant contributions in building materials.
Volunteers: Partner team volunteers 300 hours to help complete building house.
Recognition includes:
On worksite: None
Print: Listing in annual list of donors and house blessing programs; press release; and photo sent to newspaper
Online: Website list of donors; FaceBook posts
Event: Recognized at House Blessing
Habitat Logo: Use of KHfH sponsor logo for calendar year
Other: at discretion of KHfH
Sponsorship Agreement:
Sponsors at each level will be asked to sign a Sponsorship Agreement to include:
- Amount of donation, scheduled work days, if any, and pledge payment schedule
- Detailed List of Responsibilities for KHfH and Donor, including details of each parties’ responsibilities in construction, PR, fundraising, and fulfillment roles indicated for KHfH staff
Sponsorship Agreements are non-binding; they are intended to clarify roles and responsibilities and provide a tool for on-going communication.
Other Policies:
Donor may request to remain anonymous or decline any of the listed benefits.
The House Sponsor may not be part of selecting the family to live in the home. House Sponsorship does not give any advantage or preferential treatment to an applicant from any given organization.
Monetary donations to Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity cannot be used to satisfy local development laws and/or development requirements.
Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors maintains the right to accept/decline house sponsors on a case by case basis.
